چکیده

In this paper, we propose clipping with amplitude and phase changes of the signal points to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) signals in high-speed wireless local area networks defined in IEEE 802.11a physical layer. The proposed technique can be implemented with a small modification at the transmitter and the receiver remains standard compliant. PAR reduction as much as 4dB can be achieved by selecting a suitable clipping ratio and a correction factor depending on the constellation used. Out of band noise (OBN) is also reduced.

Improved modeling of IEEE 802.11a PHY through fine-grained measurements

In wireless networks, modeling of the physical layer behavior is an important yet difficult task. Modeling and estimating wireless interference is receiving great attention, and is crucial in a wireless network performance study. The physical layer capture, preamble detection, and carrier sense threshold are three key components that play important roles in successful frame reception in the pre...

A MAC and PHY Cross-Layer Analytical Model for the Goodput and Delay of IEEE 802.11a Networks Operating Under Basic Access and RTS/CTS DCF Schemes

 We have developed a theoretical cross-layer model that allows assessing the goodput and delay of IEEE 802.11 local area networks (WLANs) operating simultaneously under the distributed coordination function (DCF) basic access (BA) and request-to-send/clear-to-send (RTS/CTS) medium access control (MAC) protocols under saturated traffic over correlated fading channels. A comparison between numer...

PSNRr,f : Assessment of Delivered AVC/H.264 Video Quality over 802.11a WLANs with Multipath Fading

Emerging as the method of choice for compressing video over WLANs, the AVC/H.264 standard is a suite of coding options and parameters whose values are to be chosen for specific videos and channel conditions. We investigate the delivered quality of AVC/H.264 coded video across the video characteristics, the quantization parameter (QP), the group of picture size (GOPS), the payload size (PS), PHY...
